Long sought after for its metaphysical properties, the gem version of Andalusite has recently become popular. A bit of a mysterious and unusual gemstone due to its pleochroic properties, exhibiting different colors when viewed at different angles. This particular gemstone not only is bicolor, displaying both light burnt-red and yellowish-green, but the color arrangement also changes with the viewing angle (the pleochroic effect). It also exhibits a couple large needle inclusions, but these are not readily visible except under magnification due the gemstone’s optical properties. Hard enough to be mounted in either a ring or pendant.
