Our faceter decided to cut this particular stone as a trillion to take advantage of zircon’s high refractive index, which compliments this stone’s rich shade of blue. Many people believe that zircon is manmade, mistaking it for cubic zirconia, but zircon is a natural gemstone which is sometimes used as a diamond substitute due to its high refractive index. Blue zircon has become a very popular gemstone, and this particular stone is bright enough to be noticed from several feet away.
