Most Oregon sunstones are a straw yellow in color. It is difficult to capture on video, but this particular stone displays heavy schiller, similar to the bottom of a copper pan. The schiller is so intense that it is difficult to see the back facets. The schiller in this stone is caused by tiny copper inclusions. This particular gemstone is faceted in a large heart shape, and the schiller faces up best when looking directly at the stone. A very unusual gemstone. Due to sunstone’s hardness (approx. 6.5), we recommend setting this stone in a pendant or brooch.
