An unusual facet cut for zircon. Our faceter cut the stone using a scissors design to take advantage of zircon’s high refractive index. The play of light on the back facets reminds us of the reflection off an old Fresnel lens from a lighthouse. Many people believe that zircon is manmade, mistaking it for cubic zirconia, but zircon is a natural gemstone which is sometimes used as a diamond substitute due to its high refractive index.
