Dark Reddish Pink Mahenge Garnet Pear Shape 2.11 Carat Eye Clean MAH00071

Not your typical red Almandine garnet, this Mahenge garnet is a dark reddish-pink color in most light, which reminds us of the color of some Pinot Noir wine. It also displays a color shift to red in old-fashioned incandescent lighting (see pictures). This color shift is typical for Mahenge garnets. We were lucky enough to obtain a parcel of Mahenge garnets soon after they were first discovered in Tanzania in 2015. We finally had the parcel faceted by our cutting shop and the results have been incredible. As you can see in the video, this particular garnet is eye clean. Its scintillation is a bit subdued due to its deeper color, so we are pricing this this particular Mahenge garnet at less than $200 per carat.
