This gemstone combines two attributes that Oregon sunstones are famous for, a very attractive shade of red, and light schiller which flashes when the stone is viewed face up. The shade of red on this stone reminds us of Rainier cherries. A very nice stone.

Oregon Sunstone Peach Color High Schiller Pear Shape 3.02 Carat SUN00073 This pear-shaped gemstone is for someone looking for an Oregon sunstone with high schiller. This schiller effect is a bit difficult to capture on camera. The schiller is caused by tiny copper inclusions which look like individual snowflakes on camera, but in sunlight they blend together to give the stone a shimmer that looks like the bottom of a new copper pot. Due to sunstone’s hardness (approx. 6.5), we recommend setting this stone in a pendant or brooch. Value priced at $25 per carat.

This stone is the rich red color that Oregon sunstones are famous for. A very clean stone, with just a hint of schiller. Both the schiller and red color are caused by tiny copper inclusions. The copper inclusions in this particular stone are not visible to the eye, and the schiller is not noticeable except under magnification. A great stone for a pendant.

A small but very clean and lively stone, with lots of brilliance that is visible from several feet away. This particular stone reminds us of a clean, faceted rose quartz. While this stone would look great in a ring, we recommend setting it in a pendant due to sunstone’s hardness (6.5).
